FORMER Ba Open champion Rajen Singh will be the player to beat in the top flight during the 18 holes stroke event at the Rarawai course on Sunday.

Singh, who plays with a two handicap, was part of the national training squad last year.

He will face stiff competition from Vishwa Nadan who has a handicap of five in the A grade.

The battle in the B grade will be between Jyoti Lal and Marshal Pillay.

Salesh Kumar is the number one contender in the C grade.

Ba Golf Club secretary Dinesh Maharaj said the tournament would be sponsored by Pundit Sunil Sharma.

Maharaj said there would be attractive prizes in all grades.

"There will be the overall gross and overall nett categories as well," he said.

"This season was quiet for us after Cyclone Evan damaged the club house in 2012. We managed renovate it and host the annual Ba Open in September.

"We are requesting the members to come out in full force to support the event. This will be the final tournament of the year. Members from other golf clubs are most welcome to participate as well."

The tournament will tee off at 9.30am.
