THE police claim there is no tension at Nabouciwa Village in Rewa as investigations continue into the alleged rape and murder of 13-year-old Sereima Berwick Degei in September 2007.
Police chief operations officer ACP Rusiate Tudravu said his officers had been to the village and had been assured there was no tension in the village.
Sereima's body was found hanging from a mango tree near her home.
In 2007, police investigation into the matter concluded her death was the result of suicide. However, an inquest in the Nausori Magistrates Court ruled otherwise.
ACP Tudravu said the police's internal affairs division was looking at how the investigation was conducted, and that due diligence had to be done.
He warned those who interfered or tried to interfere with evidence or witnesses would be dealt with accordingly.
