SUGARCANE growers in the country can look forward to a payment similar to the $80.74 payout received last season.
FSC executive chairman Abdul Khan said although final calculations were yet to be made, the payment would be substantial.
"We haven't done the final evaluations as yet but the amount that will be paid out will be very close to the payout last season," he said.
Cane farmers in the country received $80.74 per tonne for the 2012-2013 season, a significant increase from the $49.16 received in 2010 and $65.67 in 2011.
Mr Khan said growers would have received more were it not for a decrease in global sugar prices recently.
"We had an improvement in tonnes cane to tonnes sugar or TCTS which meant that we produced more sugar with the same amount of cane."
