PARENTS and guardians have been advised to closely supervise their children.
Divisional police commander Northern SSP Naulumatua Lutunacaucau said drowning and home fires were prevalent during this time of the year.
"We are requesting parents and guardians to closely monitor their children not only at home but also in picnic spots," he said.
"It's only wise that we take necessary preventative measures to prevent accidents and other mishaps from occurring.
"We are also requesting drivers to refrain from driving while under the influence of liquor as we work towards ensuring a fatal-free festive season."
SSP Lutunacaucau said parental supervision towards children throughout this season and beyond was advisable.
"Please, beware of your environment and everything that is happening around you. Support the police and help make your holidays a safe and an enjoyable one."
