LITIALA Lotu could not have wished for a better Christmas gift than the birth of her 2.5kilogram baby boy.
Born at 1.50am, the healthy bundle of joy was the Lautoka Hospital's first Christmas baby.
"I am very happy and blessed," the 20-year-old Kadavu lass said when visited by The Fiji Times news team on Wednesday.
"This is my first baby and for him to be born on Christmas Day makes it extra special."
Staff at the hospital's Maternity Unit said five babies were born during the day.
Meanwhile, the first Christmas baby recorded for the Western Division was a male child delivered at 12.42am at the Sigatoka Hospital.
Staff at the Maternity Unit said the 4.46kg baby and mother were resting when this newspaper called in.
Four births were recorded in Ba, while none were reported for Nadi, Rakiraki and Tavua.
