Vegetable price increases overnight

Wednesday, December 25, 2013

Update: 11:51AM MEMBERS of the public have raised their concerns on the prices of vegetables and fish at the Labasa Market.

Some even expressed disgust at how the prices of these produce shot up overnight.

Shopper Ana Ratumaikoro said a small bundle of fish that usually cost $12 went up to $23 and even $25.

Even one bundle of cabbage and bean is $5 from the $1 or $1.50 vendors used to be selling them for.

I understand that they are trying to earn income for their families this festive season but they shouldnt have increased their prices because some customers will not be able to afford that.

Earlier this week, Labasa Chamber of Commerce president Satish Kumar earlier pleaded with business houses to lower their prices for the benefit of customers this festive season.
