ORGANISERS of the New Vision Sevens tournament have hailed this season a success.

After hosting six tournaments this year, the organisers are satisfied with what transpired on and off the field.

New Vision chief organiser Wame Ratadai said they had established relationships with top clubs that were regular participants at their tournaments.

"We started our preparation for this season in September last year," Ratadai said.

"We hosted a total of six tournaments and we are pleased with how things transpired. We've made contacts and built good relationships with top clubs that always participate at various New Vision tournaments."

The first two tournaments were hosted at Thomson Park in Navua, the next two were played at the Suva Grammar School grounds, the fifth tournament was played in Wainibuka before the final event was played in Suva over the weekend, known as the Salato 7s.

Ratadai, who hails from Soa in Ra, said the main objective of the tournament was to expose village youths against those in Suva.

"We organise these tournament to help our boys in the village expose their talents in Suva, which is our primary objective.

"We know that those village boys are talented players but someone has to take the initiative to tap those talents.

"And at the same time keep youths occupied to prevent crime."

The next tournament will be played in Wainibuka next month.
