THE newly-refurbished blood donor centre at the CWM Hospital can now provide donors with privacy regarding information given prior to giving blood.
Previously, the open space at the centre prohibited this but the renovated version provides a safe environment for the donors to supply personal information.
On Monday Health Minister Dr Neil Sharma opened the centre with the financial support of Bank of South Pacific.
Bank country manager Kevin McCarthy said the centre received $10,000 in financial assistance which allowed for the necessary improvements to the existing facility.
Fiji National Blood Service national manager Josefa Bolaqace said military engineers provided labour support for the renovation.
Mr Bolaqace said the centre would be opened late every evening during the festive season and a mobile blood drive team would be stationed at the government Information and Research Centre this week from 9am-4.30pm.
