SHOPPERS from all over Lautoka took advantage of reduced prices in supermarkets and major stores by making last minute purchases for items on their Christmas list.
Market vendors were also out and about with fresh produce and root crops while the supermarkets were open from the early hours of the morning to late in the night.
And the hype, according to shop owners, is the same as last year.
Manager of Shop and Save Supermarket Gupendra Prasad said as Christmas approached, the shopping atmosphere became more intense.
"We have been very busy for the past weeks as people have been coming in to do their shopping and prepare for Christmas," he said.
"General items have been selling fast and some of the main items that people buy include frozen foods.
"Food items are very popular and things like baking ingredients and refreshments have been popular."
