TOKATOKA Westfield Barbarians player Filipo Nakosi has been invited to attend trials with the Bay of Plenty Club in New Zealand for the 2014 ITM Cup competition.
The utility backline player ended up as the joint top try scorer for the Westfield Babaas with Waisea Nacuqu this season.
Westfield Babaa's secretary Josateki Sovau said Nakosi represented the Asia Pacific Barbarians team in the Hong Kong 10s tournament this year.
Savou said it was good to see their players attracting the attention of overseas clubs.
"Josua Tuisova, who is one of the members of the initial team, is now on a three-year contract with Toulon in the Top 14 Championship in France," he said.
"Filipo is currently recovering from an injury sustained at the Fiji Rugby Union Centennial 7s. He is recovering well and will be leaving for New Zealand next month to trial for Bay of Plenty."
The Westfield Barbarians recruited fitness guru Epeli Lagiloa as head coach and Fiji National University science graduate Timoci Tavai as trainer this year.
Sovau said the duo set up a three-tier structure for the club.
"Initially our focus was on one team only. But then Lagiloa introduced the three-tier system.
"We have the tier one which is the elite squad. Tier two is the back up for the elite squad. Tier three is our future players which is the under-19.
"We have had talks with the schools to include their players in our squad. We have players from Queen Victoria School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, Ba Provincial College and Votua Village in Ba.
"Setareki Koroitamana and Sela Toga are from the Ratu Navula team that have played the under-15 to 17 level."
