CHRISTMAS functions held by local businesses are keeping resort properties in the Western Division busy, says Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association president Dixon Seeto.
"Traditionally, this is the low season in terms of tourists but local company Christmas parties and end of year functions have kept most of them pretty busy," he said.
"However, many are looking at increased occupancy or full capacity immediately after Christmas as families come over to get away from the rat race."
Mr Seeto added the rebranding of Air Pacific and Tourism Fiji's new marketing campaign would reap positive spin-offs in the new year.
"Tourism Fiji's new marketing and advertising campaign and the rebranding of Air Pacific to Fiji Airways are already having an impact on markets.
"Through initiatives like this and in the increased consultation between industry stakeholders, Fiji is looking at another record year this year and an exciting 2014 for tourism in Fiji."
Tourism generated $1.074billion in earnings in 2011 and accounted for 56.3 per cent of total service exports.
