Update: 8:45PM FIJIS Public Service Commission permanent secretary Parmesh Chand welcomed the Minister for Education, Bob Loughman, at Berkley Crescent in Suva earlier today.

The meeting centered its discussion on the Fiji Volunteers Scheme (FVS) that engages experienced retired school teachers from Fiji to teach in Vanuatu.

A Ministry of Information statement issued today also said that Mr Loughman confirmed at the meeting that retired school teachers from Fiji will be in Vanuatu by the first week of February next year.

The statement said the Fijian government will be responsible for the teachers airfares, and their allowances will be jointly paid by both governments.

An agreement was signed between Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ratu Inoke Kubuabola and Mr Loughman, under the FVS, on December 12.
