TOWERING lock forward Manoa Tamaya had a rugby reason to celebrate Christmas Day next week.
The tireless forward was named the 2013 Player of the Year for the champion Outrigger on the Lagoon Nadroga side during the union's awards night on Friday.
The 24-year-old edged other nominees Peni Ravai and Savenaca Rawaca.
Jonasa Dulo, son of former heavyweight boxer Mosese Kavika, was named Best Under-20 player, Viliame Naveni scooped the Best Official award, Samisoni Viriviri solo try against Tailevu during the Farebrother-Sullivan Trophy challenge earned him the Best Try of the Year.
Rupeni Rabici was the Most Improved player, Kavekini Nalaga won the Ratu Rakavi award and Nadroga mentor Esala Nauga was named Coach of the Year.
