THE MV Suilven is safe to continue servicing parts of Vanua Levu.
The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji (MSAF) confirmed yesterday that the vessel was safe for travel.
This follows complications the vessel experienced last weekend while travelling from Savusavu to Suva.
"We found that there was steering failure and since then, the ship had undergone repairs," MSAF compliance and standards manager John Tunidau said yesterday.
"Our surveyors have found that the main steering, the auto steering and the emergency are now in working order and the ship can be used."
MV Suilven general manager operations Mohammed Sareem confirmed the ship set sail again yesterday afternoon bound for Savusavu.
"We are pleased to announce the resumption of the MV Suilven operations from Friday, December 20, 2013," Mr Sareem said in a statement.
"We would like to assure all passengers that your safety is our priority and we will not put any lives at risk while at sea."
