THE 22-year-old woman who was questioned in relation to the double-homicide at Viseisei in Lautoka earlier this week has been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.
Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed this yesterday, saying the woman would be produced in court today.
The post-mortem examination results of the 33-year-old woman and her seven-month-old daughter are yet to be released.
West police spokeswoman Naina Ragigia said the three children who sustained injuries were still admitted at the Lautoka Hospital.
They are Fisi Peau, five, Grace Patolo, five and Ana Kaitonua, three.
"They are still in critical condition and doctors are doing their very best to save the girls," she said.
Meanwhile, the Tongan community in Fiji is encouraging members of the public to assist them in buying Christmas gifts for the three Tongan children admitted at the Lautoka hospital.
Secretary of the Tongan Community in Fiji Eleni Tevi said it was sad that just a month after the inception of the committee here in Fiji, the lives of a Tongan woman and her baby were taken away in an inhumane way.
"I am starting to dialogue with the committee about the incident," Ms Tevi said.
