SPEEDING has been singled out as the top traffic infringement offence in the North this year.
And the LTA says it will continue to prosecute offending drivers since the offence has been identified as the number one killer on our road.
In an interview, authority CEO Naisa Tuinaceva said: "The authority will ensure that those drivers booked for speeding are penalised accordingly since such an offence has been seen as the number one killer on our roads.
"We have conducted a short course with drivers here where we requested them to explain why we shouldn't penalise them.
"The same course will be held in the Western and Central divisions before the year ends."
Mr Tuinaceva said the LTA was doing relatively well in the North.
Mr Tuinaceva added the relatively low number of road fatalities and accidents in the North was a good sign, and he thanked his officers for their service and hard work.
