Update: 3:02PM THE Land Transport Authority is waiting for government to gazette the National Switch Decree before the e-ticketing system is made compulsory in the country.
When asked for an update on the e-ticketing system, authority CEO Naisa Tuinaceva said they were waiting for the decree to be gazetted.
"The system will come under the decree and right now, we are just waiting for Government's announcement to gazette it (decree)," Mr Tuinaceva said.
"All the e-ticketing works handled by the Transport Ministry and the LTA are completed and these include the codes of practice, certification processes, the regulations and laws of the system.
"Once the decree is gazetted, the system will immediately be made compulsory and this will mean that everyone will have to use the cards.
"We are trying to bring about a more efficient move into our bus fare system because this will help bus operators get all their money at the end of every business day."
