RAKIRAKI is looking forward to the construction of a sports complex that will include a six lane running track, a playground and a stadium.

According to Ra provincial administrator Sitiveni Tavaga, the government has set aside $500,000 for the project and the plan is to complete construction before the end of next year.

"This project will benefit the people of Ra and boost the potential of children in the province," Mr Tavaga said.

"This development also includes a gym and is the one of many developments that will be made in Ra to lift the standard of the town to greater heights."

Mr Tavaga said other developments for next year included a $3million electrification project.

"We are also included in the extension of power grid from Tavua to Korovou and this will include villages from the Nalawa Police Post to the last village on the border of Tailevu.

"The electrification development will benefit more than thousands of people and schools along the Kings Rd," the Ra provincial administrator said.

He said the government planned to complete about 70 per cent of this project before the end of June next year.
