ALIFERETI Baleloa is likely to feature for the Design Engineering Lautoka tonight in the Late Jimmy Ram Pratap Trophy match against the Shop N Save Nadi side.
The former Suva stopper has been out of action for more than a year and is set to make his return with the Blues in the match which will kick off at 7pm at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.
Lautoka Football president Shalendra Prasad said Baleloa joined the team at the request of association patron Babu Ratan Deo.
Prasad said the player had moved to Lautoka after withdrawing his application to play for the Vanuatu club, Amicale FC. He said Baleloa's inclusion would boost the side which had a number of youngsters playing in the upcoming season.
"We have a young and formidable side which has players such as Ilaitia Tuilau, Lesari Qalica, Edward Justin, Javed Hussein, Mohammed Rahim and Dave Radrigai," Prasad said.
"The team has been training well under the guidance of team director Sanjay Prasad and former national rep Bakalevu Mocemereke is assisting as interim coach.
"We also had a friendly match against the Fiji under-20 squad (on Monday) at the Academy grounds in Ba which Lautoka won 4-2."
Prasad said the two match Late Jimmy Ram Pratap Trophy series would help prepare the side for the upcoming Fiji Sun/Skipper National Football League. "Through this match, we will also be assisting Nadi with its O-League preparation. For us, it's a good build-up for the national league and a chance for the players to prove their worth."
Prasad also confirmed Alvin Avinesh and Zibraaz Sahib had been training with the team while waiting for Fiji Football's decision on their suspension.
The second leg of the challenge will be held at Churchill Park this Sunday at 3pm.
