DESPITE the slow start to 2013, Yasawa Island Resort and Spa has been upgrading to provide a better experience for visitors.
General manager Lucy Ho said they had been working on the bathrooms at the resort.
"In November, travel agents came by for inspections and they were really impressed with what they saw," she said.
"We want them to come back before New Year and see the changes that have been put in place.
"We have new linen and curtains and we have also repainted our bure."
Apart from the renovations at the resort, the staff members were working on providing nearby villages with assistance in the wake of the damage caused by Cyclone Evan last year.
"We have a foundation now where the guests put money to help the villages.
"With the help of the government, a new hall has been built at the school.
"We will look to provide new water tanks to the villagers as they do not have access to fresh water and usually depend on rain."
Ms Ho said the resort had a desalination plant which sometimes helped to supply water for the villagers as well.
"Now, we want to find boreholes so that the villagers have another source of drinking water."
