Ratabacaca wins most outstanding player award

NATIONAL beach volleyball rep Epeli Ratabacaca was named the Most Valuable Player of the season during the FBC Suva Volleyball Association awards night on Friday at Kshatriya Hall in Suva.

The Marist player was class above the rest in his first season with the champion men's team.

SVA media and public relations officer Sam Rabuku said Ratabacaca's commitment earned him the top award.

"The most valuable player goes to a player that has been fully committed throughout the 2013 season and has performed consistently," Rabuku said.

"He has recently joined Suva Volleyball and has represented Fiji to the Pacific Mini Games early this year."

The MVP Female Player of the 2013 Season went to Timaima Lomani, who was recognised for her "tremendous and outstanding performance throughout the season".

Lomani was praised for being a team player and helping the Suva women's team in retaining all the titles this year.

Marist won the Club of the Year (men's) while Suva won the women's Club of the Year award.

Veteran volleyball administrator Iliesa Raketekete was named the Coach of the Year while Sakiusa Taubale received the Administrator of the Year award.

Women's Rookie of the Year and the Men's Rookie of the Year went to Mereani Vasuca and Sepesa Mate, respectively.

The association also recognised its members which represented Fiji in the Pacific Mini Games in Wallis and Futuna this year.
