THE Westfield Tokatoka Barbarians side returned home $1000 richer on Saturday afternoon after winning the Gaunavou 7s at the Bar Market grounds.
The Filipe Nakosi captained Barbarians side defeated Sorokoba 36-10 in a one-sided final.
Tournament co-ordinator Timoci Driu said the Barbarians were just too good in the one-day tournament.
Driu said the Barbarians just had too much experience and firepower over the Sorokoba side.
"In the end it was a one-sided affair as the Barbarians ran away for an easy win," Driu said.
"But we would like to thank the teams that came to participate in our first tournament here in Ba and we have now set our target on another tournament later this month.
"We're happy that some top 7s teams in the West were here to take part and help in our drive to develop sevens rugby here in Ba.
"We want teams from Ba and surrounding areas to improve their performance in sevens as we have a lot of talents in this area," Driu said.
Driu said national rep Pio Tuwai was at the Ba Market grounds to support his Westfield Barbarians team.
Tuwai and fellow sevens rep Waisake Nacuqu both hail from Votua village in Ba. Former sevens star Vilimoni Delasau also hails from Sorokoba Village in Ba.
