THE People's Democratic Party has opened a branch in Labasa to prepare for the 2014 Election.
During the launch at Takia Hotel on Saturday, PDP's interim president Adi Sivia Qoro said this was the second time the party visited the North to build its network and contacts.
"The party has a symbol that reflects change and PDP is about building bridges and not walls," she said.
"The symbol is one of holding hands and I think if we need change in our country, everyone needs to engage and commit themselves to the new direction we are going to take.
"The symbol represents both men and women and all the different races in our country.
"The party is also about multi-racialism and human rights."
Adi Sivia said it was important that people conserved cultures that exist in Fiji's multi-racial society.
"We are in a transitional stage where government has put out a new Constitution and also scheduled the elections next year.
"We are here because parties have been registered and we are now going out to set our projects.
"It's important to engage people in things that will bring about changes in our society."
