THE Fiji Police Force is once again requesting parents and guardians to closely monitor their children's whereabouts at all times.

It comes after a 15-year-old girl was allegedly defiled in Savusavu.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro yesterday said the incident happened late last month during a drinking party.

"The incident occurred on November 30, sometime between 1pm and 6pm. The matter was reported by the suspect's wife who received information that the victim was found sleeping inside their bedroom on the alleged day of the offence," she said.

"It is alleged the victim was drinking with others at the suspect's home and when she was discovered inside his bedroom, she was questioned by her brothers where she admitted sleeping with the suspect.

"The suspect's wife was away in Labasa during the alleged time of offence and only knew of the matter when she returned on Friday. Right now, investigations into the matter still continue."

On the same note, Ms Naisoro requested parents and guardians to closely monitor their children's whereabouts at all times.

"Unfortunately, this is also a period where there is usually an increase in sexual offence cases where our children and youth are victims.

"In some cases, the victims who are in their teens are found to be part of drinking parties," she said.
