CIVIC FC defeated Combine FC 2-1 last night to book a spot in the Kriz Signs National Club Championship semi-final against 4R Electrical at Prince Charles Park in Nadi this morning.
The Civic FC team with players such as Ulaiasi Tamanisau, Emori Ragata, Jale Dreloa, Kolinio Sivoki, Semi Rokoqica, Amit Kanhaiya, Pita Rabo and Eran Underwood remained unbeaten in its pool recording three wins.
Meanwhile a lot turnout was recorded in the opening two days of the competition.
This is even with the free entry for the tournament.
Fiji Football Association vice president Tarunesh Reddy said more emphasis was needed to be put into the local league competitions next year.
He said the clubs had to increase their fan base.
"If the district associations hold the local league competitions regularly then the interest will generate automatically," Reddy said.
"This year some district associations were not able to complete the local league competition.
"This just kills the interest of the players who are eager to play in a competitive event because they cannot make it to the district team.
"The National Club Championship is an important event on the Fiji FA calendar."
The winner of the National Club Championship will walk away with $3,000. The runner-up will receive $1,500.
The final pool match between United One and Blues FC was won by Blues FC 1-0.
In the semi-final Civic FC will play 4R Electrical at 9am followed by League FC against Combine at 10.30am.
The final is scheduled at 4pm.
