TRIES from Ana-Maria Roqica and Elina Ratauluva helped Tovata retain the Women's Confederations 7s title yesterday.
Tovata beat Kubuna 14-7 at the Cathedral Secondary School grounds.
Roela Radininiyavuni scored the lone try for Kubuna and was later named the player of the tournament.
Roqica was the best player for the Tovata side who have been winning the tournament for the past four years.
Fiji Women's Rugby Union (FWRU) president Paulini Tamatasasa said they were impressed by the performance of the teams from Lautoka, Naitasiri, Serua and Ra.
She said they were the last teams to confirm their participation but played exceptionally well.
"Overall, we had a very good tournament," Tamatasasa said.
"The fact we had the three Confederacies playing and then we had teams from Lautoka, Naitasiri, Serua and Ra also competing.
"These teams were impressive in their games."
Meanwhile, Lautoka won the development competition.
"For the development competition, Lautoka's Lavenia Cavuru was the best player.
"We have seen that the interest in women's rugby is increasing and we would like to keep it that way.
"We would like to thank Carpenters, Fiji National Sports Commission and the Fiji Rugby Union for their support."
Women's rugby goes on a break for the festive season and would resume competition in the second week of January.
"We have a lot of plans for women's rugby and all we need is the support of the unions and the stakeholders."
