DESPITE criticisms the Fiji Police Force faced in the past year, the contribution of the community was a major factor in helping the force improve its performance.
This was the message from acting police commissioner Ravi Narayan who was the chief guest at the Southern Division Crime Prevention Watch Council thanksgiving on Thursday.
Mr Narayan said the volunteer spirit of the community was something the force appreciated given the busy schedules everyone had.
"I believe the partnership between our community members and police has been a contributing factor to their success," he said.
"As some of you may be aware of now, the Fiji Police Force faces a lot of challenges in as far as resources and manpower is concerned which is why we have turned to you for help."
