Ryan retains Dubai winners

FIJI 7s coach Ben Ryan has retained the team that featured in the Dubai and Nelson Mandela Bay 7s for the third leg of the 2013/14 HSBC Sevens World Series.

The Englishman has also included former skipper Lepani Botia, Jasa Veremalua, Apisai Domolailai and Ilai Tinai in the 23-member squad.

Former Fiji Residents rugby league player Eroni Sau, Vatemo Ravouvou, Viliame Mata, Manoa Tamaya and Marika Vunibaka are the newcomers set to get the break in the national colour.

Flying Fijian Henry Seniloli who is just returned from the Northern Tour is also named in the squad.

A statement from Fiji Rugby Union said the selected players have to attend fitness tests at their respective High Performance Unit centres on Monday.

Suva and Nausori-based players are to report to the HPU Gym in Suva, Nadroga, Navosa and Serua-based at the HPU Gym in Sigatoka and the Nadi and Lautoka-based players at the HPU Gym in Nadi.

Coach Ryan had asked players to stay committed during the festive season.

He said the aim was to get better at every leg of the series.

"We will continue to do that all season and if we keep improving, learning and striving to be better then it's going to make for a very exciting year," Ryan earlier told Times Sport. Fiji is placed third on 48 points on the series points table behind leaders New Zealand (58) and South Africa (56).
