The New India Assurance Company Limited Lautoka Branch came out on top in this week's Bula Friday competition, with its creative set-up and matching Bula wear winning praise from the judges.
They beat close competition from PJ's Sailing Adventures, staff of the Lomaiviti Provincial Council, staff of Fijian Holdings Limited and staff of the Sofitel for the $800 prize.
Sunday Times editor and Bula Friday judge Ruby Taylor-Newton said the winning entry captured the bula and Christmas spirit.
"They had Christmas trees, toys, decorations- the whole works and since we are in the festive season we thought that it was very creative of them to merge the two concepts," she said.
"Their bula wear looked very good and we felt that they captured the bula spirit very well."
Mrs Taylor-Newton said there was an overwhelming response to the competition with strong entries from around the country.
The judges also expressed their regret that because of the overwhelming response, all entries could not be published but gave their assurances that those that missed out would be published in the final competition next week.
