RESPONDING to requests for training on the preparation of communications material, AusAID — the Australian Agency for International Development's Fiji Community Development Program hosted a two-day workshop.
The main aim of the program was to teach media skills to civil society organisations in the Western Division.
Held at FCDP's Lautoka office, the workshop brought together representatives from Empower Pacific, Viseisei Sai Health Centre and the Western Disabled People's Association to the forum.
Over the two days representatives from the CSOs were taught to write media statements, how to effectively work with the media, how to take pictures and how to use social media and create and distribute media diaries.
Representatives from The Fiji Times made presentations to the group yesterday.
Former Hibiscus Queen and Miss South Pacific Mere Nailatikau made presentations on visibility and child protection on behalf of AusAID while Sunaya Nandni and Samisoni Pareti were key presenters on behalf of FCDP.
