Transport woes

INFRASTRUCTURE, development and better education access need to be addressed in Ono-i-Lau first if marine protected areas are to be monitored better.

These were the sentiments of Rupeni Vakamoce, chairman of the Ono-i-Lau Development Committee, who was speaking at the Marine Resource Management Workshop in Colo-i-Suva on Thursday.

Mr Vakamoce said the people of Lau were hoping to address the issue of a lack of boats as well, as it hindered all aspects of their daily lives.

"The main problem for us is the transportation."
