SPREADING the Christmas cheer and allowing people to enjoy the holiday season with their loved ones is the objective of the Labour of Love market in Lautoka this Sunday.
Labour of Love foundation member Jaucinta Khan said the market would be open from 1pm to 7pm.
"There will be ladies from the Lautoka HART homes who will be selling their items — handicraft, food and plants," she said.
"This Sunday is all about unity.
"Some people don't have money to buy shoes for their children.
"We just wanted to get the people together and have them spend some time with their families."
She said some people would also be selling grog at the market.
"It is the festive season and many youths will be present. They will all want money to celebrate the holidays. We also want the people to move out of their comfort zones and know that they can earn some money here."
The Labour of Love foundation began their markets earlier this year.
"A group of ladies got together and we began to throw ideas around.
"There are so many women who have been trained by non-government organisations to make crafts.
"Once women know how to make these items, they have nowhere to sell their crafts from because guides usually take tourists to other places."
Ms Khan said this was the reason the foundation decided to set up a market. He added all they had to do was pay $5 for the whole year and they could sell their crafts.
