GOALKEEPER Merevesi Fuga Taoba put on a heroic performance for the Fiji girl's under-20 team in their scoreless draw against the International Football Group New South Wales U17 team in the Ultimate Fiji Cup at Churchill Park in Lautoka yesterday.
Taoba, who hails from Lau, saved Fiji from certain defeat against the Australians with her brilliant display.
The 19-year-old worked overtime as the visitors dominated the game. The International Football Group NSW team played structured soccer to deny the locals possession.
Fiji just did enough in defence to stop the opponents from scoring with Taoba pulling off some magical saves.
Taboa, who has been playing soccer from the age of 12, was happy with her performance.
She said they defended well.
"I just happened to be in the right place whenever the shots came," Taboa said.
"I have been part of the Fiji age group team from the U16 level."
