NEWCOMERS FC Education is relishing the chance of playing defending champions 4R Electrical in the opening match of the Kriz Signs National Club Championship at Prince Charles Park in Nadi this evening.
FC Education, which was formed in 2009, will feature in the competition for the first time.
The side has a tough draw with Navua champions Combine and Suva's Northpole.
FC Education president Sanjay Singh said they were going into the three-day tournament as the underdogs.
He said it would be a learning experience playing against teams which have district and national reps.
"Our first match will be a tough one. It will be an uphill battle because 4R Electrical have many Ba and Fiji reps. For our young players this will be a chance to test their skills," Singh said.
"You don't get to play against quality players all the time. We will take the positives out of the match.
4R Electrical with Ba district reps Jone Vesikula, Marika Madigi, Meli Codro, Roneel Kumar, Abbu Zaheed, Tuimasi Manuca, Malakai Tiwa and Osea Vakatalesau are the firm favourites in the tournament.
The side is aiming to make it back to back titles.
The opening match kicks off at 6pm. At 7.15pm Blues FC will face Combine, League FC will play Northpole at 8.30pm while United One will take on Civic at 9.45pm.
