RFMF farewells sergeant major

OFFICERS and men of the RFMF gathered yesterday to lay to rest one of their own, Force Sergeant Major Warrant Officer Class One Semesa Leweni at the Lovonilase cemetery in Suva yesterday.

Officers in attendance at the church service at the Nauluvatu Methodist Church included the Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, and land force commander Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga.

WO Leweni was a widely and highly respected senior non-commissioned officer of the RFMF and rose through the ranks to hold the post of Force Sergeant Major because of his leadership style.

He was educated at Dudley High School and enlisted in the RFMF as a regular force soldier on July 14 1973.

WO Leweni was discharged from the RFMF upon reaching the retirement age of 55 years on May 27, 2012.

He had been re-employed on contract for a period with the military until his untimely passing.
