LAUTOKA, Ba and Tavua special administrator Praveen Bala lamented the passing of the late Tui Tavua Ratu Waisale Kuwe Ratu, as a loss to Tavua and the Western Division as a whole.
"Ratu lived a life which mirrored the belief that no life is more satisfactory than one of selfless service to country or humanity," he said.
"Through his death, Tavua is poorer."
Mr Bala said the late Tui Tavua's commitment to community development and the welfare of his people was exemplified by his eagerness to shoulder responsibility and take on the task of moving Tavua forward with unbridled enthusiasm.
"Ratu worked very closely with the Tavua Town Council.
"When I took over the administration of Tavua, I had a few meetings with him and later appointed him chairman of a think tank committee to look at possible ways of taking Tavua to another level.
"Ratu willingly accepted the position and worked with all stakeholders for the betterment of the people of Tavua.
"The people of Tavua share this hour of grief with the members of his family and the vanua and pray to God Almighty to give them strength to bear this loss."
The late Ratu Waisale, aged 70, will be buried tomorrow.
