THE business community in the country gathered yesterday to be part of the Fiji Roads Authority's 2014 Industry Forum.
The forum at Holiday Inn in Suva was used as a platform for senior staff of FRA to update its relevant stakeholders of their plans for next year.
The purpose of the forum is to provide information on FRA's scope of work next year; to let road users and potential business partners know of opportunities that may arise within FRA; and the importance of program delivery and the need to gear up towards meeting the delivery.
Permanent secretary in the Prime Minister's Office Pio Tikoduadua said while a lot had been achieved, there was still a lot that needed to be done before the roads were of international standards.
"In order for Fiji Roads Authority to ensure that our nation obtains value for money from the significant investment this government has made in the road sector, we need to ensure that high quality is maintained for FRA operations and for the sustainable future," he said.
"We need to build and maintain roads, bridges and jetties that are sustainable."
