WILD card entrant Tony Cen upset Fiji number 11 Nitesh Chand in the final to win the Coastal Rentals-sponsored Six Reds Snooker Championship at the South Seas Club in Lautoka on Saturday.
Cen who was handed a wild card entry after failing to qualify as one of the top four players from the Sugar City, surprised the top contenders with his sharp potting.
In the final Cen defeated Chand 3-0.
North West Billiards and Snooker Association tournament co-ordinator Raymond Reddy said Cen proved to be a class above the rest.
He said Cen defeated seeded players such as Isireli Kaci, Suresh Chauhan and Ali Boy on his way to the final.
Raymond said the Six Reds Championship proved to be exciting.
"This is the first time that we held this event," Raymond said.
"Changes will be made to the format next year with an aim to increase the number of players. This is especially during the weekly qualifying rounds at the various clubs."
In the semi-final Cen beat Boy 3-1 while Chand downed Raymond 3-2. Cen won $500 while Chand received $300.
Players from Ba Central Club, Sigatoka Club, South Seas Club, Lautoka Club and Nadi Sports Club participated in the tournament.
