Report uncovers prevalence of violence against women

Update: 1:28PM A NATIONAL report on women in Fiji was released this morning at the Southern Cross Hotel by the Fiji Women's Crisis Centre (FWCC).

The report revealed the prevalence of violence, sexual violence and emotional violence against women by an intimate partner and by another person who was not an intimate partner from a sample of 3193 individual interviews.

The study sampled 3538 Fijian households, 1671 were urban and the remaining 1867 were rural households.

The study was carried out by Dr Juliet Hunt, who is an independent consultant on gender development, program design, monitoring, evaluation, gender auditing and gender training.
