VETERAN Gloria Sukhu won the ladies grade title in the National Chess Championship yesterday.
The Women's Candidate Master amassed 7.5 points to overcome a tough competition in the JR White-sponsored event.
Sukhu won all her matches and drew one with Women's FIDE Master (WFM) Hilda Vukikomoala who settled for the third place with six points.
Lelean Memorial School Form Three student Kabrina Terubea managed the second place finish on 6.5.
In the men's competition, CM Calvin Prasad retained his lead on 4.5 followed by Manoj Kumar on four points.
John Caldera with whom Prasad drew yesterday is on third place with 3.5 followed by youngster Menash Fareed on three points.
Fareed went down fighting to champion Kumar in an exciting tussle yesterday.
The tournament will end tomorrow.
