IT was a day of thanksgiving as children who were assisted by the Children's Heart Foundation (CHF) and the Vodafone Fiji Foundation (VFF) gathered for a lunch in Suva yesterday.
In 2007 VFF and the CHF started a strategic partnership to help save the lives of children born with heart defects.
Since then, they have assisted 71 children undergo surgeries in India.
"Life is a gift and to be a part of a cause that helps save lives is really beautiful.
"We are honoured to be part of this cause," Vodafone Fiji Foundation trustee Divik Deo said.
The lunch was to thank every person, group and party that made a contribution in the life-saving treatments for the children.
CHF president Dr Shanita Sen said helping the children of Fiji that were born with heart defects was rewarding.
"Some of them were as young as 10 months old when they underwent heart surgeries in India.
"At that time they couldn't do things that normal children did but look at them now, all healthy and alive.
"Looking at them now you can't believe that at one stage in their life they were fighting to live. It's amazing and is really the most rewarding experience."
