MINISTRY of Youth and Sports director William Naisara has called on youths around the country to refrain from involving themselves in criminal activities during the festive season.
Speaking at the opening of the new North Youth Resource Centre in Labasa on Friday Mr Naisara said youths normally ended up on the wrong side of the law because of alcohol and drug abuse especially during the festive revelry.
"We believe that most criminal cases which involve youths come about as a result of misjudgements and peer pressure," he said.
"Our word of advice to youths is that they keep themselves occupied this festive season instead being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
"If they have to celebrate, it is only safe that all things be done with control."
Mr Naisara added youths should also focus on their long terms goal during this festive season and ensure that they do not get involved in activities that would rob them of their dreams.
