INTERESTED rice farmers in Cakaudrove can breathe a sigh of relief as the Ministry of Agriculture is willing to provide free training.
Principal agricultural officer Northern John Cox yesterday said they were receiving a lot of interest from farmers in the province lately.
"Some rice farmers have started farming in Nabua, Navatu, Vunisawana, Bucalevu and other areas in Wailevu West," Mr Cox said.
"They are farming on a small scale and hopefully if the interest grows, they will start commercialising their farms for local consumption.
"We are willing to offer our help to interested farmers not only in Cakaudrove but other parts of Vanua Levu in the form of training and advice.
"They can always approach one of our offices and make arrangements where we will visit them."
Mr Cox said this was one way of ensuring food security and generating income for families.
