IN a bid to upskill the knowledge of local women in the North, the Fiji Arts Council conducted a week-long jewellery workshop at the Tutu Training Centre on Taveuni.
Workshop co-ordinator Katrina Steele said 12 women from the provinces of Macuata and Cakaudrove were part of the workshop.
"The Fiji Arts Council's fourth and final jewellery workshop on Taveuni draws to a close this weekend," she said.
"The 12 participants from the Cakaudrove and Macuata provinces have been busy putting the final touches to their designs ready to exhibit and sell. The four workshops have all been conducted at the Tutu Training Centre on the North West coast of the Garden Island of Taveuni throughout the year."
Ms Steele said the participants learnt various aspects of jewellery design, ranging from design development, technical skills, marketing and display techniques.
"Core funding for the program has come from the New Zealand High Commission and the new equipment and machinery that they are providing will be an excellent future resource for local jewellery makers."
