Update: 6:05PM A 23-YEAR-OLD woman is under police guard at the Labasa Hospital after she allegedly abandoned her newborn baby in a nearby bush at Vunivacea, Tabia.
Divisional police commander Northern SSP Naulumatua Lutunacaucau said the baby was found alive in the bush on Thursday.
"The baby was found lying on his stomach. He sustained injuries and cuts from mongoose bites," he said.
SSP Lutunacaucau said the woman would be charged once discharged from hospital.
