Update: 1:29PM ATTORNEY General and Minister for Environment Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum is not at the opening of the 15th Attorney General's Conference at Natadola this morning because he is chairing the 9th Pacific Islands Conference on Nature Conservation in Suva.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama opened the AG's conference this morning saying the constitution has specific provisions for the protection of the environment.

He noted section 40 that states every person has the right to a clean and healthy environment, which includes the right to have the natural world protected for the benefit of present and future generations through legislative and other measures.

The conference, held at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, ends tomorrow.
