MISS Fiji Priscilla Reddy wants to bring back the Miss South Pacific crown to Fiji this weekend.

Fiji has won the title twice, in 2009 by Mere Nailatikau and in 2011 by Alisi Rabukawaqa.

"As I walk across the street, people come up to me and say 'you know what, we have so much faith in you, just go there and bring the crown back'," Ms Reddy said.

"It really means a lot. It's exciting.

"I didn't quite realise until recently that this pageant means so much to a lot of people."

Miss Reddy, who is already in the Solomon Islands, has been preparing confidently for the pageant which begins today.

She is accompanied by Fijian designer Epeli Tuibeqa and is being looked after by honorary consul to Solomon Islands Atu Balekana.

Ms Reddy has chosen politics as her research topic question which she will present tomorrow.

She will also be carrying the message of rheumatic heart disease at the pageant.
