SUPPLY chain issues have had an impact on the completion of the resealing program for the road upgrade works in the Western and Central divisions.
Fiji Roads Authority CEO Neil Cook confirmed this in their quarterly report saying maintenance works in the two divisions were progressing well according to the program.
However, he said the supply chain issues had an impact on the ability to complete the resealing program.
"Similarly for bridge renewals work, the availability of key materials is impacting on contractors' ability to complete works," Mr Cook said.
He said the supply market was a key issue they faced going into 2014.
Mr Cook said they were exploring all available options to ensure supply chain issues are resolved to allow works to commence next year.
He also revealed that significant upgrade works were in progress in central Suva, which has been well received by stakeholders and the general public.
"Other major capital projects are proceeding. The key point to note is that progress is not as fast as predicted and this is primarily because FRA is taking a strict line on quality of construction and quality of materials."
FRA is expected to hold an industry forum next Wednesday to prepare the supply market for the 2014 work program.
