TWELVE former employees of the then Public Works Department appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday afternoon facing abuse of office and causing a loss-related charges.
The group appeared before magistrate Chaitanya Lakshman charged with 46 counts of abuse of office and causing a loss.
The group of seven women and five men were all released on $1000 bail sum by Mr Lakshman and their sureties reminded of their responsibility as a surety.
The group first appeared in court on Wednesday charged with 27 counts of similar offences and were released on a $2000 bail by magistrate Sufia Hamza.
FICAC lawyer Frances Pulewai did not object to bail before Mr Lakshman but asked that strict bail conditions be imposed.
The group was told to submit all travel documents and to report to their nearest police station on the said dates given to them.
On the first appearance before Ms Hamza, it is alleged the group falsified payment vouchers to a stationery office supplier known as Professional Suppliers between January 1 and May 31 in 2010.
The payment to Professional Suppliers is believed to be about $34,000, the court heard.
The second payment is alleged to have been made to Crazy Office Suppliers and Entire Office Suppliers by the same group of people totalling about $93,000.
