YOUNGSTER Jiujiua Lecavanavanua (left) is happy to see his dream of representing the country unfolding in front of him.
The upcoming golfer who is a member of the Fiji Golf Club will leave the country on December 8 to participate in the annual Greg Norman Junior Masters Tournament in Australia.
Lecavanavanua, a Form Three student of Suva Grammar, is looking forward to the challenge and hopes to improve on his skills through this exposure.
"I'm a bit nervous about this. Representing the country is a big thing and I'm looking forward to it," he said.
"I hooked up with golf some five years ago when the national golf ran a junior golf clinic in my school.
"I will do my best in this tournament."
FGC junior golf co-ordinator Veramu Rokotavaga said Lecavanavanua deserved the chance to represent the country.
"He has been knocking at the door and is a very promising, solid and consistent golfer," Rokotavaga said.
"In the monthly medal competition last month, he shot a 69 to win the A-grade prize."
The FGC is organising a barrel nite this Saturday to assist with Lecavanavanua's trip.
Ticket price is $20.
